The Zanussi company was founded by Antonio Zanussi in Pordenone, Italy, in 1916. It was initially a small shop and then grew into a huge industrial enterprise that manufactured a variety of household appliances. By 1950 it was one of the top producers in Italy. The company continued to expand during the 1960s, with the purchase of the Becchi, Castor, Zoppas and Triplex brands, and with the creation of a design and research centre.
